PoliticoPro – Fearing deportation, immigrants forgo medical care

PoliticoPro recently sat down with clinic leadership across the country, including UMMA’s very own CEO, Dr. Miriam Y. Vega, to discuss the current political environment’s impact on the undocumented population residing in the United States seeking medical care.

“They may come to us and feel safe, but when we give them a referral to a see a specialist, say a cardiologist, they don’t want to go,” said Miriam Vega, CEO of the UMMA Community Clinic in Los Angeles.
