Frederick
"When people care, mountains can move"
When Frederick came to UMMA, he was plagued with chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and depression. Fredrick’s UMMA provider referred him to the Black Visions of Wellness (BVOW) Program, an integrated service model that where patients can access primary care, mental health, substance abuse and community defined non-traditional services.
“After losing a limb and not believing that I had much left to contribute to society, I entered the Black Visions of Wellness Program, where I have been introduced to several activities that have brought me back to realize I can be productive and relevant in new ways.”
Through our partners and services, Fredrick had an opportunity to obtain a prosthetic leg, rehab, complete daily physical workouts, learn healthy recipes to help him battle with diabetes, receive acupuncture, and be monitored by caring and compassionate medical providers.
“Caring and sincere people represent UMMA… I cannot say enough about the treatment I received through the hands of this wonderful organization. When people care, mountains can move”
All of us at UMMA need your support to continue our work of making our community a better and healthier one.
