Susy Flores
A decade of hard work
When Susy Flores joined the UMMA staff twelve years ago, it was as a Medical Assistant, fresh out of college. She was one of three full-time employees that saw patients, ran operations, and coordinated with a group of volunteer providers to ensure our patients received the services they needed. When a new Clinic Manager was needed, she took the position, and for the past decade, she has been responsible for managing the daily in’s and outs of our clinics.
Now in our twentieth year, more patients are making UMMA their medical home than ever, but Susy will be the first to say that she’s not keeping count. That’s because our patients are not numbers to us, the UMMA team gives each person the time, dignity, and care that they need in order to get well.
“There is just so much to do be done all the time, and you put your head to the grind and do it – I’ve learned to accept that what I do here, even though it is behind the scenes sometimes, does have an effect on people. And from what I’ve been told, it has a positive effect. It’s good to hear that what you’re doing is making an impact.”
You don’t always see those who are creating a legacy, but know they’re there, persistently working to nourish the spirit of UMMA for generations to come. These dedicated individuals and all of us at UMMA need your support to continue our work of making our community a better and healthier one.
